Maine has always had a pretty relaxed stance on weed and has had an established medical program since 1999, making it one of the first states to accept it. In Maine, both recreational and medical marijuana are legal. Anyone aged 21 and over can possess up to 2.5 ounces of cannabis for recreational use. Adult residents can also cultivate up to three flowering marijuana plants at a time and up to 12 immature plants at home. Medical marijuana has been legal in Maine since 1999, allowing patients to possess up to 2.5 ounces of usable marijuana and cultivate up to 6 plants.
