Alaska
Alaska has been a pioneer in marijuana legalization, starting back in 1998 with the passage of its medical marijuana program. Later, in 2014, recreational use was legalized in 2014 through Ballot Measure 2. Adults over the age of 21 can legally use and possess up to an ounce of marijuana for recreational purposes. However, consuming cannabis in public remains illegal and can result in a fine of up to $100. Additionally, adults are allowed to cultivate up to six marijuana plants per household, with a limit of three mature plants.
